Stereotyping Processes Related to Cultural Behaviours

Dear Students,

There might be some difficulties while working on stereotypes in literal works. Since we are mainly reading and analysing Anglistik works there are a number of questions to be conisdered:

1. what is a stereoptype?
2. Does stereotypes change according to cultural behaviours, beliefs and religious assumptions?
3. How can we detect stereotypes in the text ?
4. Do the stereotypes we encounter always conduct or tranmsit the same meaning?

A dynamic work challenging stereotypes may well be Bernardino Evaritso's neo-slave narrative Blonde Roots.
Please feel free to encounter stereotypes that are expressed through juxtapositions, combinations and fusions of diachronic and synchronic images which lead the reader to think and see beyond the classical ideal of certain types. Enjoy the book.
